What is Link Popularity

// December 26th, 2007 // No Comments » // All Business

Most Webmasters, SEO specialists and Internet Marketers know; but does the “average Joe or Jill” know? Even if they did, would they really care? Of course, we’re talking about link popularity! What is link popularity anyway? Well, in its purest form, link popularity simply means, “how popular is your website link” on the Internet as far as major search engines are concerned.

Here’s a simple example. Let’s say that 2 similar websites (they don’t have to be similar, but for the sake of argument), both have excellent content, and around the same number of pages etc. Now let’s say that one of those websites has 500 “incoming links” from other websites around the Internet, and the other has just 10 – we would say that the first website has much greater “link popularity.”

Why is this important? Well, that can take awhile to explain, but suffice it to say… that the greater your website’s link popularity, the more likely that your website is an important resource, and therefore the more likely that the major search engines will take notice, and potentially increase your “visibility” in their indexes.

Please note: This is a very, very simplistic view of the concept of link popularity! For more information, and related resources, check out www.linkpopularity.ca.

Choosing a Mattress

// December 20th, 2007 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

Time for a new mattress! I really had no idea how important a good mattress is for a restful and healthy sleep. I always thought “a mattress is a mattress,” show me where the cheap (in-expensive LOL) ones are.

While doing a little research the other day, I found some excellent information regarding mattress selection, mattress construction, mattress maintenance, and the history of “the mattress.”

One site in particular caught my eye – www.mattressknowledge.com It has a simple and effective design, and is very easy to read and follow. It has about a dozen or so informative pages that should make choosing your next mattress a much easier task!

Binnie’s C3 Corvette

// December 17th, 2007 // No Comments » // All Fun

Before I “really get into this blogging thing,” I have to tell you about Binnie’s awesome 1977 C3 corvette. If I remember correctly, he bought it on EBAY several years ago, straight from California. Binnie and (name removed for privacy) flew out to CALI, picked up “buttercup” and drove it all the way back to Kentville, Nova Scotia!

I must say, it’s a beauty. Check it out for yourself at www.corvettec3.ca By the way, Binnie’s website is very popular with many corvette fans around the globe. It contains some very detailed corvette maintenance and restoration information, and some great pictures of “buttercup.”

Check it out!

Here We Go!

// December 17th, 2007 // No Comments » // Everything Else

It’s 10 o’clock on Sunday night, December 16, 2007, and this is my first post in my brand new blog! It’s a blustery, snowy night, and the “weatherman” is predicting that it will turn to freezing rain by morning. It should be another nice, relaxing drive to work tomorrow. YIKES!

You can find much more about me on the ABOUT page. I can tell you now that I am a full-time college instructor, in marketing, e-commerce and economics; and a part-time “web marketing guy” with a small network of sites like a Sackville Business Directory for my hometown, and a Halifax Nova Scotia Real Estate website I set-up for buying & selling real estate without using a real estate agent, commonly known as FSBO, or For Sale By Owner.

I have many more websites I’ll tell you about later. In the meantime, enjoy! And, thanks for stopping by.
